As one of the earliest units to develop unmanned aerial vehicle, our research institute has strong technology strength and abundant engineering experience in the field of researching and manufacturing unmanned aerial vehicle. Some key technology researches of unmanned aerial vehicle, such as pneumatic overall design, high-speed flight control, three-dimensional modelling emulation, miniature jet-power, and aerial reliability engineering, are at the advanced level in our country. In the late 90’s, our institute accelerated technology innovation of unmanned aerial vehicle and updating of products, thus our products represent a multi-type, multi-function and systematic developing trend.

Since the 1960’s, our institute has continuously produced approximately 20 thousand target drone of all kinds. I-50 remote controlled simulation aircraft, is a verisimilar target drone developed to aim at different training needs, has lifelike appearance and ratio, stability augmentation, autopilot three manipulating models, and can be manipulated flexibly. It can also offer verisimilar air target to weapon system such as antiaircraft gun and missile. B-9H remote controlled simulation aircraft is a carried-based afloat target drone developed according to actual flying usage of navy. Shipboard launching and afloat recycling are accessible and the aircraft can be used as target for middle or low-altitude missile with the main function of flying with ship. At present, it has been allocated to each navy target drone group and exported to many countries such as Bangladesh. II-70 remote controlled simulation aircraft is an aloft target which is high cost-effective and applied widely. More than ten thousand series have been sold since they shaped. And this kind of aircraft has been exported to Indonesia, Algeria and other countries. II-150 remote controlled simulation aircraft is a subsonic aloft target with good condition developed by our institute. It can realistically simulate cruising missile on airspeed, flight altitude and radar specialty and includes basic, navy, air force, plateau and many other types. II-250 subsonic unmanned aerial vehicle uses 150 kilo jet engine as its power and can realistically simulate operational airplanes and cruising missile of opponents. It can provide verisimilar high-speed mobile aloft target for carried-based and ground short-range anti-air weapon system, middle and long range anti-air missile and air-to-air missile weapon system to capture subsonic targets and aiming and live-firing shooting training.

Z-3 unmanned helicopter is an ultralight unmanned helicopter developed independently by our institute. Its maximum take-off weight is around 100 kilos and can carry 20 kilos effective burden. This unmanned helicopter has three manipulating models: manual, stability augmentation, and autopilot. Many key techniques are at the advanced level in our country. Z-3 has basic type and farm type. Z-3N farm-oriented helicopter can used to artificial auxiliary pollination and fertilization, and it has a wide market development space. Z-6 unmanned helicopter is a middle-sized unmanned helicopter. Its take-off weight is 930 kilos and it has 200 kilos carrying capacity. There are two obvious feature of this airplane. One is its long duration of flight. It can fly continuously for six hours. Another is that it has beyond visual range airborne ability. Its controlling radius is more than 120 kilometers.

Z-5 unmanned helicopter is a multi-purpose light unmanned helicopter developed independently by our institute. It has many functions such as three-dimensional control, automatic takeoff and landing, online mission plan and multi-airplane formation flight, and it is the type of unmanned helicopter that our institute mainly develops. Our institute has developed Z-5 plateau type, Z-5 carried-based type and many other types of unmanned helicopter on its basis. These can be applied to power line inspection, forest fire prevention, river way deicing, geological exploration and so on, and have wide applied prospect on electricity, agriculture, forestry, resource exploration and other civil fields.

WG fixed wing unmanned aerial vehicle series is mission platform type unmanned aerial vehicle products. They have modular reloading abilities of multi-mission load and can satisfy the needs of military training and exercise in high-altitude areas.

Engine is the core of unmanned aerial vehicle. Our institute always sticks to the “engine first” unmanned aerial vehicle development strategy and has continuously exploited three types of engines: piston engine, rotary engine and turbojet engine. Piston engine: CYS-40F.It is a small-sized aircraft gas engine designed for small-sized unmanned aerial vehicle with 2.1KW maximum output capability. This type of engine is mainly used onour institute’s I-Z unmanned aerial vehicles at present. Compared with piston engine, CYS-208RT rotary engine has simpler structure and less mobile elements. It also has the advantage of small volume, light weight and large power and is suitable for small-sized unmanned aerial vehicle, powered parachute and glider. It is now installed on our institute’s WG-40 unmanned aerial vehicles. CYS-40WP turbojet engine with 40 kilos maximum thrust is now installed on our institute’s II-150 basic, navy and plateau type of serial target drones. It can also be used as power device for miniature missile.
